Explore Beyond The Now:
Margo’s expertise lies in her cognitive approach and her capability to relate to audiences of all types. Her goal is always to help each client realize his or her unique talents and abilities, build confidence, and become a more effective communicator. Her insight allows her to reveal individual barriers, enabling clients to quickly improve — always empowering individuals to find their own voice.
Margo’s individual and corporate clients appreciate her combined education, experience, and communications background that complement her interest in working with people. With an undergraduate degree in Education and Communication and a graduate degree in Social Work, counseling experience, a love of teaching, and the ability to understand human behavior, she consistently elevates people and teams to a new level of insight and performance.
Margo’s political history began as the first woman elected to the office of New Castle County, DE Prothonotary (Clerk of the Superior Court). She then served two terms as a Delaware State Senator and was recognized for working across the aisle to benefit all. During this time, she spoke at both national and statewide levels on issues such as childcare, prison reform and coherent and comprehensive gun control. These engagements were often times interactive, including media interviews, political campaigning and statehouse debates.
Margo and her daughter, Steffany Bane Carey, co-authored, I’ll Miss You Too, a book on the off-to-college transition and its effects on the parent-child relationship and communication. The book is a college best seller and, as of 2015, is in its second edition. Both Margo and her daughter have spoken to high schools and colleges around the country on this significant family transition.
During years of caregiving for her husband with Alzheimer’s Disease, Margo wrote a Blog, with the goal to help others in navigating the trials and tribulations of life as a caregiver to a loved one. Her writings have inspired others to take a day-at-a-time and “learn to dance in the rain.”
Due to her authoring a book and a blog, Margo has been quoted and written articles for publications and websites regarding these issues. She is presently working on a book regarding the stresses and hardships on the caregiver both during and after a loved one has passed away.
Margo has been a guest expert on radio and television shows around the country, including The O’Reilly Factor, KYW-CBS – Philadelphia, WUSA – Washington, DC, Good Morning America and AARP Radio, NPR and NPR’s Dan Gottlieb Show. She has been interviewed by national publications including USA Today, New Jersey’s Star Ledger, San Francisco Gate; Air Tran Airway’s Go magazine, More magazine and other publications.
